Working closely with leading brand, adidas, Sneakers with Soul has been well-positioned to deliver quality footwear to the K – 12 school-age students we serve. SwS is able to deliver shoes to more students due to the preferred pricing received from our footwear partner #adidas.
Impact on School Attendance
Evidence exists that living in poverty presents obstacles for students when attending school. For families living in poverty, average school attendance is significantly lower than in affluent communities. A case in point, students attending schools in more affluent school districts in St. Louis, MO average in the low 90th percentile, as opposed to students in poor communities may range in the low to mid 60th percentile. Clothing and footwear can play a role in negatively impacting school attendance. Research recently conducted with parents and guardians of children and youth that received new sneakers from Sneakers with Soul found that 1 in 4 families expected that their student(s) would be “more apt” to attend school more consistently due to having a quality pair of shoes to wear.
“We are so deeply grateful to Sneakers with Soul and our partners at Wyman for providing this special boost to our kindergarteners and their families,” added University City Schools Superintendent Sharonica Hardin-Bartley. “Nice, new sneakers are too expensive for many of our parents, but a big deal to kids. Thanks to this generosity, we know our younger students are now ready for an active day of school, healthy movement, and intensive learning.”
